Terms of Participation

The terms you accept when you enter a Greek Powerlifting League competition through this website.

See also our Privacy Policy, which describes how we process your personal data.

1. The organiser

Greek Powerlifting League (GPL) competitions are organised by GREEK POWERLIFTING Ι.Κ.Ε, VAT 803322790, GEMI Reg. No. 194574609000, registered office at Μυκάλης 32, Πειραιάς, Greece. Contact: greekpowerliftingleague@gmail.com.

These terms apply to every entry made through our website, and are supplemented by the specific terms and technical rules of each competition as published on that event's page.

2. Eligibility

Any athlete who registers before the deadline, pays the entry fee, and falls within the divisions and disciplines announced for that competition is eligible to compete.

Entrants under 18 require the written consent of a parent or legal guardian, to be presented at weigh-in. An entry by a minor without that consent is not valid and the fee is refunded.

Your final division and weight class are confirmed at weigh-in, regardless of what was declared on the registration form.

3. Entry and payment

Your entry is complete only once payment is confirmed. Until then no place in the competition is held for you.

The entry fee follows from the divisions and disciplines you select, priced per the rates in force for that competition and itemised on the form before you pay.

Payments are processed by Viva Payments (Viva.com Smart Checkout). Your card details are entered directly into Viva's environment and never pass through or get stored by us.

If payment is not completed, your provisional entry and its data are deleted automatically within 30 minutes.

4. Cancellations, refunds and transfers

The policy below is accepted explicitly at registration, through its own checkbox on the form:

No refund is given either where an entrant is disqualified for breach of the rules, a positive doping test, or misconduct.

If the competition is cancelled or postponed by the organiser, then — and only then — you choose between a full refund of the entry fee or transferring it to a future competition. The non-refund policy above concerns cancellation or non-participation on your side, and cannot remove a right arising from our own failure to hold the event.

Right of withdrawal: services relating to sporting events supplied on a specific date are exempt from the 14-day right of withdrawal for distance contracts (art. 3ιβ of Greek Law 2251/1994, art. 16(l) of Directive 2011/83/EU).

For anything concerning your entry, contact greekpowerliftingleague@gmail.com.

Refund & Registration Transfer Policy

By completing the registration and payment, the participant acknowledges and agrees that:

  • Registration fees are non-refundable in the event of cancellation or non-participation, regardless of the reason.
  • Registration is personal and non-transferable to another athlete. Name changes or transfers of registration to another person are not permitted.

By submitting the registration, the participant confirms that they have read, understood and accepted the above policy.

5. Health, fitness to compete, and responsibility

Powerlifting is a maximal-effort sport. Competing presupposes that you are physically and mentally fit to do so, and is at your own risk.

At registration you submit the solemn declaration below electronically. The organiser reserves the right to require an additional medical certificate for a particular competition — where it does, this is stated on the event page and on the registration form.

First aid provision is present at the venue. This does not transfer responsibility for your state of health to the organiser.

Solemn Declaration (art. 8 of Greek Law 1599/1986)

On my own responsibility, and aware of the penalties provided for by art. 22 para. 6 of Greek Law 1599/1986, I declare that:

  • I have recently been examined by qualified medical personnel and am in full health, both physically and mentally, to take part in a strength sports competition.
  • In the event of any injury or medical incident of mine while arriving at, attending, or leaving the competition venue, I bear sole responsibility.
  • The organiser bears no responsibility whatsoever for any medical condition of mine, whether known or unknown to me.

This declaration is addressed to GREEK POWERLIFTING LEAGUE. The accuracy of the information submitted in this declaration may be verified against the records of other authorities (art. 8 para. 4 of Law 1599/1986). This English text is a translation provided for convenience; the Greek text is the legally binding original.

6. Competition rules

Competitions are run under the technical rules of the International Powerlifting League (IPL) as in force on the date of the event, together with each competition's specific rules.

Weigh-in, equipment checks and flight order are set by the organiser. Arriving late for weigh-in may result in disqualification without refund.

Judges' decisions on lifts are final. Protests must follow the procedure and time limits set out in the competition's rules.

GPL operates a zero-tolerance policy on doping. Entering a competition constitutes acceptance of doping control in accordance with IPL rules.

7. Photography, video, and personal data

How we process your personal data is set out in full in our Privacy Policy. Taking part in a GPL competition requires the consent that follows.

Competition results (name, category, lifts, total) are published publicly on our website and submitted to the international database openpowerlifting.org, as part of the official competitive record.

Consent to photography and video

By registering for the competition I expressly consent to:

  • Being photographed and filmed anywhere at the competition venue (excluding changing rooms and restrooms), for the purpose of promoting the event on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, the GPL website, and in printed material.
  • Photographic and video material in which I may appear being made available to the event's sponsors, solely for their own promotional purposes.

You may withdraw your consent at any time at greekpowerliftingleague@gmail.com. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out beforehand, nor material already published by third parties.

8. Conduct and disqualification

The organiser reserves the right to remove any participant from the competition for violent, abusive or dangerous behaviour, for breach of the rules, or for failing to follow the instructions of judges and venue staff.

Participants are liable for damage they cause to equipment and to the venue.

9. Schedule changes

The organiser may change the time, flight order, venue or date of a competition for reasons of force majeure or organisational necessity, notifying registered entrants in good time by e-mail and on the website.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by Greek law. The courts of the organiser's registered seat (Πειραιάς, Greece) have jurisdiction over any dispute.

Where the Greek and English texts of these terms diverge, the Greek text prevails.
